WHAT SHOULD WE BE LOOKING FOWARD TO
- Im looking forward to visiting Nigeria and working on an
album with various nigerian artists. Doing a song in Igbo. It would be
my first time to visit Nigeria and i want to experience the culture.
Theres alot of friends in South Africa from Nigeria so i want to see the
place.
CHALLENGES
- Being independant we often have to raise funds from our own pockets and sometimes we struggle to make things possible.
Our challenge now is finding a sponsor for Nigerian tour
for atleast 3weeks to work and shoot a music video and learn the
culture. Something i can take back home to south africa and talk about.
THE MOST CHALLENGING SITUATION IN YOUR LIFE
- i guess im dealing with losing my mom a few years back. I
get lonely sometimes when i see other kids with their moms. Noone can
replacce the role of a mother. Wouldve been nice if she was around to
see what ive achieved on my own.
-The music business is very challenging. Its cut throat and
very difficult. To book a studio, do a photoshoot, graphic designs and
distributing an album is expensive. By the time the songs are done, to
get airplay and marketing also costs money. To shoot a quality video is
expensive. The costumes, hire makeup artist, hire dancers and a
production team. As artists we depend on gigs and other income to make
such things possible but to put everything on your own is hard. At the
end all we want is quality music and quality videos and a clean brand.
Building a brand is not easy. We eat, walk, sleep showbiz. We find
possibilities where there are none. Also being in a continent where a
black person is limited to career options being an entertainer needs
commitment and passion. Sometimes you get lazy to wake up and sing
because you dealing with your own challenges at home. Some families will
never accept their children to do arts. So u have to find support from
friends, people in the community. Its not easy but Arts is also a
proffesion. If we invested as much in music like americans, artists
would be wealthy and therefore capable of giving back to the community.
There are very few artists in africa who make real money, most of them
also come from Nigeria because of the support in the community. That is
very good.
THE MOST HAPPIEST MOMENT IN YOUR LIVE
- i live in Johannesburg which is the biggest media &
showbiz city of South Africa, so when i visit my family and childhood
friends in Port Elizabeth. I go home once in every six months so it does
get lonely but when im home im the happiest.
